If you are in denial that these threats have taken place because you haven't seen them maybe you should move to Portland or Chicago as you will fit in well there.
Threats are also delivered by other means.Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
I saw a few "Shoot them down" comments on FB. Thinking about it later I hope they were screenshot and sent to the police. Hopefully their FAL's are taken off them. Threats like that show they aren't fit to hold a licence and only reflect badly on the rest of us

Just stating an opinion that it is idiotic to threaten Doc staff and helicopters. Whether in reality or if mooted anywhere it’s not a smart move.

@Mohawk .308 Yup; telling that you'll never use them again is not threatening. It's just taking a moral stand against a company that you had considered spending money on their product

Check out One News. There’s a piece on police investigating threats made against DOC regarding the cull.

There were over 50,000 people that signed the petition. F*ck them I say
Just stating the obvious here: How easy it must be to set up a fake email account and get a login on this site or on facebook and make threats against people with the express intent of discrediting the hunting and shooting community.

Only remedy against that sort of false flag is to report it ASAP and for mods to delete. Make no mistake, we're under attack on an uneven playing field.

So saying you will boycott a company and take your business elsewhere is "threatening behaviour". Good luck with that in a Court of Law. It must be having an effect as Helicopter companies are coming out on social media saying they are Not part of the Tahr Cull. Boycotting operators obviously works and all it is, is freedom of choice.
The message is getting through. Don't take on work you prefer people didn't know about you doing.

Not sure if it’s been said in the above posts. But I would not be surprised to find that if the threats are true might they have come from the pro kill Thar camp.
    Why you might ask?
Well by the time it’s found out it’s to late we would have been tarred with that brush!
Seen PETA do exactly this here with birds of prey against gamekeepers. Just a thought...

Sounds a bit too 'conspiracy theorist' to be pragmatic.

Can't like that but do agree with it.
Not a lot appears to be substantiated.

Well call me naive but I just don't see that happening. The example was given of PETA doing this sort of activity....PETA!!
PETA's extremist views are accompanied by extremist associations. PETA activists have a long history of association with the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) and a related underground organization, the Earth Liberation Front (ELF). Of course, they would stoop to this sort of behaviour but NZ pro-Thar cull groups?
    Doubt it.

Yes its pretty easy to see why they could/would do that.

It's a great opportunity to paint hunters in a bad light to help further their agenda.

We have all heard of Helicopter operators being "threatened" with losing contracts if they participate in the cull.
Are these the threats Sage is quoting?
The threats are all rather ambiguous but seem to be targeted at the helicopter companies:
"The threats targeted DoC's use of helicopters for tahr aerial control. DoC's actions in relation to its 2020/21 tahr cull has meant the public are taking their frustrations out on the very people they would often hire to fly them out into the backcountry hunting. " said DoC operations director Dr Ben Reddiex.
Only Sage raised concerns about “threats of violence” made to the Department against staff in Parliament on Wednesday

And of course the Police response was the standard "confirmed the threats were being investigated, saying enquiries were ongoing.

They will go the extra mile be sure of that! Just to make us look bad. Here in the UK I've had more than my fair share of run in's with the anity hunting fraternity. Speaking from that personal experience I would not put it past them. Hunt Sabs are some of the worst here. Some RSBC members are just as militant, poisoning water in pens, realising of pheasant and partridge chicks and dumping of dead birds of prey on shoot's. You just need to have a look at the badger cull and the threats to life of those that have been taking part in that cull! So making up a few false email, Facebook accounts saying I'm a "hunter" and then threatening a helicopter company that is involved in the cull so we get the bad name. Yep that's pretty tame from what I have seen.

You just need to look at the trolling on line and how far people will go with that. This is no different imho. Who's to say that a few of these great people have not moved to NZ to carry on where they have left off in the original country. Or even NZ'ders that have picked up a few ideas from overseas...look how the pros get it done!

If you feel this is a little to 'conspiracy theorist' well fine.....but from my experience with antis, pragmatic is NOT a word that I would use to describe them, they will go the extra mile to get what they want!
