Wellington types don't give a fuck about people stopping a road somewhere where there is mud and people that wear gumboots. If you want to get coverage, you do wellington at 3pm, and send a Safari up the steps a la Myrtle.

    This is an interesting thread.

I think the reality is that the ground has shifted in NZ.

The vast majority of people are urbanized, non-hunting, non-firearms type of people.

I see threads on here where guys bleat on and on about kiwi way of life bla-bla-bla. The reality is that is GONE.

We are a TINY minority, and an even smaller part of that minority is willing to get off their arse and turn up for any protest action. It is long past the time when we need to start looking at how minorities in other parts of the world have waged effective protest campaigns, and model the approach on that.

Playing "nice" and expecting the good old days to return will simply not cut it.

I wouldn't count 250000 licensed firearm owners as a small minority. Sure not all are hunters, but the majority will be. That's a bigger group than other minorities. The majority of NZ is likely neutral on firearms (except maybe MSSAs), there is an incredibly small but noisy group of anti-firearm lunies.

@vulcan, maybe you and I do maths slightly differently

250K is 5% of the population, that is a minority in my book.

so why did not even 10% of that minority bother to submit anything when it came to tranche 2 ?

even less bothered to donate money to the cause.

all 250K have never, and will never act in unison. if you think they will, I am sorry but you are living in a dream world.

and I think that your statement that the "majority is likely neutral to firearms" is fundamentally flawed.
