Looking for a good place to shoot a few goats in the bop area, know it's a long shot - but worth a try.

Hey Jayden
I used to hunt in the Western BOP while living in Tauranga and goats were pretty thin on the ground then. Did a lot of weekend trips to Gisborne and the King Country to shoot on forestry blocks and sheep stations.
Did some bush hunting in the gorges up behind Te Puke and nailed some big goats but it was tight country and hard going.
As you say, it`s a long shot but I`d look at the Whakatane/Opotiki areas...talk to the local forest management outfit and DoC field centre. Or fill up the tank,go for a drive and knock on some doors. If you see that 1000 acres of steep land has just been planted in pine trees find who owns it and offer him some free goat control!
Sorry can`t be of more help.
As said above East Coast areas such as motu, pakahi, toatoa etc, often see them but in small numbers and normally on a slip 800 yards away.
King country be my pick, similar driving distance.
Heaps of deer around so just tip them over instead.
Yeah cheers, am in Whakatane so guessed Opotiki ways would be the go. Hahah yup heaps of deer, but have never shot a goat so wanted to try something different. How helpful is doc with this kind of thing. Have only hunted on private land before..
