The Te Awamutu meeting was good, everyone was very friendly, and I learned that I can join one branch and become an associate of another. Also learned that stuff is a bit mixed up and out of whack at the moment, as the national office is inaccessible, due to the building next to it being a collapse risk.
Ahhh... that will explane the lack of response then. See you there, I've got no idea what's going but I'm sure it will be interesting.

    Cheers

    Matt

Tonight's meeting seemed more like a committee meeting than anything else, it was all admin stuff, then we had a few minutes chatting afterwards. I was assured that the meetings aren't usually "that long and boring" though.

Well, that was something of a disappointment. 20 minutes of waiting in the car in the rain before being told that the meeting wasn't actually on.

Te Awamutu are certainly winning so far

I went along to the Hamilton one and no one showed up! There was me and two other guys waiting outside for half an hour until one of them phoned the president only to be told that the meeting had been cancelled! An email would have been nice!

    Hi Guys,

I'm on the committee for the Hamilton branch.

Yes the process of joining is very confusing now as there have been many changes both at the national and regional levels in the NZDA.

Trust me when i say that we are just as frustrated with the current process as its stopping new people joining the club and that is one of our major pushes at the moment.

We are trying to make things more in-house as national office are under a lot of pressure right now

For any help contact Pete Evens (former president for the Hamilton branch) - pete@nzoutdoorexperiences.co.nz

He has been assigned the position of new members liaison. He will help you and get your name on the newsletter lists etc.

We plan to have things running better in the new year.

Pm me if you want to know anything else and hopefully we'll see you guys there.

Ha ha I did wonder if that was you in the next car Solo.

Well to be fair when I attended a few months ago it was pretty busy and they seemed like a nice bunch of guys. I have been added to the mailing list and there seems to be a fair few shoots etc so maybe I'll see you at the next one?
