I shot my first deer in the Horomunga. Spent more than a couple of nights at Midway Hut and met a guy in there who has now been a good mate for over 25 years. I recall an old guy named Harry in there, met him a couple of times. Interesting character. We arrived in late to Midway one night and he made us a brew while we unpacked. I still remember that brew - a clasic billy tea. Its a shame to hear the huts have been burned down.
He nui to ngaromanga, he iti to putanga.
You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !
Yep harry is the guy sometimes there, would be a sighn up half way down the poplars warning of his horses he had his own hut in there as well up near where you turned off at the dead sabaru
Bruce Cobb also did alot of hunting in there
used to be cool as in there sometimes guys on horses would stop at the hut for a brew on their way through cool times
Love the memories.... thanks @northdude.

Yup...but roar was shit both this year and last year. Wont be going back there again, much better places to hunt than in there.
