DOC must love it when something like this crops up on the internet.

I can imagine their smoko conversation as they browse the forum to see what sort of shit we are talking. "Good" they will say. "Lets slip on a few extra tons while the anti-1080 loonies are all distracted".

Just posted because I like it, vaguely appropriate.

I'm sure there is one for Mental Health workers, they deserve all the support and respect we can give, buggered if I'd do their thankless and hazardous job.

The cop did ok, apparently he's an experienced hunter that has shot plenty of animals, pressure does funny things to you...

Whilst it's possible to roll up to a calm cow in the yards and drop it with a .22, I'd personally take a bigger calibre to deal with an agitated animal.

Holy moley! I was wondering how this yarn was going to go. Kidmac LOST HIS SHIT!!!!!!!! Good stuff.

Now I understand that it must be very hard for the police and other civil servants to be constantly judged by us armchair experts, but fuck it, who else polices the police? I am also glad we live in a country where most of our police and elected officials are the community heros and stalwarts they need to be. I am not however so naïve to think that they don't suffer from the same amount of dickheads, idiots and so forth as found in any other organisation.

I understand the original concern of Boaraxa regarding someone letting strip circa 10 rounds of .223 in a built up area. Lets be fair, even one round has the potential to end up somewhere undesirable, let alone while fired in the heat of the moment, under stress, professional or not. I seem to remember a certain courier driver finding out the hard way not too long ago. OP may of strayed from his original point with some remarks but that's what makes this forum interesting, lots of different views and people.

Of course all you guys bagging the fuck out of the OP, know for CERTAIN that the cop involved, was a highly trained urban ninja marksman who could simply mindfuck his corelocts into the cow with zero risk to anyone anywhere! Although I am glad it ended without harm, I can hear your screaming reactions had said cop managed to put a couple of strays into some elderly person, child or other helpless sod.

I can only hope, that the cow was dispatched in a safe manner, by a diligent, trained professional. Not in a hail of wild gunfire, by someone maybe with very little firearm experience, who was a little to excited by getting some trigger time. Who really knows? Maybe I am just getting cynical in my old age.

I must apologise for the outburst to the good buggers here( the majority).
Baggin the police when they have the public's saftey to ensure is just not cool or warranted.
Get a life borax and co.
Discussion and review of situations like this are how we set standards for the future. Cops aren't gods and fuckup like the rest of us, but if we leave them to run riot without scrutiney you end up with a whole bunch of poorley monitered power hungry fuckheads like they have in the states. Some people view this as un unsafe use of a firearm, and some view it as necessery/justifiable force. Both are entitled to express this oppinion

In the time it took you to post that, the Police officer involved had to make a decision to either let the animal continue to run through the streets, or stop it.

OK gents-was fine up to the totally inappropriate crack about ?me taking patients medications-have been privvy to two investigations recently after comments like this posted on social media.
the point i was illustrating was that MSM live on the concept that sensations sell news ratings &make profits -accuracy is a distant second
Secondly the life of a front line professional in the shit ponds of life -yep shit ponds cause 99.9%of the time youre meeting humans under the most adverse(shitty) circumstances be it of their own creation or otherwise is lonely and often completely destructive
Often the most professional and sensible decisions you make are gonna rankle someone present which invariably means a screaming trip to the syncophantic media ..etc etc etc...the health &disability commissioner ,the IPCA , NCNZ or god spare us all the local pot grower whose become a green party list MP.

thank you to those who posted in support of us in the mental health field -god knows we need it.

Savage 1 and kotuku you guys both have hard jobs but these are pussie vocations compared to res's job (things I like) now that would be a tough job. Mind you I would take 1 (or all actually) for the team and give it a go. I also live and work in dangerous employments, but res's, that's dangerous. Maybe we could get Toby an apprenticeship

Yeah mate, not doubting that, and not saying he didn't make the correct decision. Just hopefully getting the grey matter going in a few heads, that seem to think that everyone in a position of power is some superman who cant fuck stuff up. I'm not saying this guy fucked anything up, I just find it almost humorous that there is two so very opposite sides of the story, and my bet is nobody knows any more than anyone else. And certainly only knows what someone in a position of power wants us to know.

i wouldnt be in the job if Ididnt thinkI could live up to what I consider are ethical standards.Personally Ive paid a hefty price ,but ive worked through it.pity Nzs so called caring societ ycouldnt look upon mental illness a little more kindly ,but most today are too busy worrying about themselves to worry about others.
my combatants comments ill take with a grain of salt and consider that point laid to rest. thanks for the kind words anyhow
