hunter 308 Kiko rd is much tougher then Clements, the bush is rougher and generally steeper especially on the south side. A few animals there used to be quite a few reds ten years ago but i haven't seen many lately.Your GPS is handy there if your new to the area as the pepper wood is thick in many places.
Pulled some 8 s out of there but had to work hard for them. Tops good in summer, about 3.5 to 4.5 hours depending on how fit you are, morning and evening produce the goods.
Well @TJM I am not all that fit I blew my ring piece in pureora the other weekend but I still get out there and give it a damn good shot the tops is another goal of mine but that can wait till I am a lot fitter than what I am.

If you do move this way you can let some led off at the hills on my dairy farm( I'm just a worker) I've lived here for two years and had all my successes in other regions.. walked the kaimail a few times and saw 2 reds through my binos one of the 3 times.. If I won lotto I would move far from Hamilton to full my hunting desires. Kim ora
Waikato draught is a real, classic beer. Nothing wrong with it.
It will be chalk and cheese - most hunting here is nice bush but few slips or tops. Most success is on back of farms. There are no mountains to speak of within 200km of hamilton.
Kaimais and pureora are local. Quite good bush hunting plenty of reds but can be hard to get animals on the deck.
several places are vrry busy esp kaimais clements mill rd and pureora so you are sharing.
The public ballot fallow blocks at te miro and te pui are awful thick bush and the deer only come out in the farmland around so you need private aceess.
Strengths of waikato are bowhunting goats and pigs on private land and air rifle hunting for rabbits on lifestyle blocks. Also its close for fly in trips to the ureweras and kaimanawas which is whrre serious deer hunting goes on..
There are several outdoor ranges 1 to 2 hr drive at tokoroa rotorua taupo TECT and otorohanga but none near hamilton. Nzda has a 22 range in town.
Appreciate the info guys and as far as I'm aware they sell Steinlager Classic everywhere so no dramas on that front
