Hunt safe, look after the bush & plug more pests. The greatest invention in the history of man is beer.

Had a father and son hunters from SA and they said you can hunt on your own property with a bow.

Just looked up the legal regs and I'm wrong in my post. No bow hunting at all.

Yes that is correct, you could bow hunt on your own property prior to the 2nd phase of the bow hunting ban in SA.

Is the ban for ‘ethical’ reasons?

I may be corrected, but, yes that was the argument the State Government put to the media.

However, IMHO I think its just more creep to satisfy their ideological aim to ban all hunting.

    More so anti hunting agenda.
RSPCA peddle out the pictures of seals, kangaroos, cats, birds shot with field points. That paints all bow hunting as bad.
An anti hunting minister makes shifty election promises to the RSPCA groups, effectively pushes a “private members bill”, her powers are quite wide gains just enough support and bangs it through.

Same minister is in charge of the portfolio for the eradication of deer in the state and their most effective tool is shooting with shotgun from a helicopter.

I think that is what triggered the initial Tasman ban, ( maybe as well) , I was travelling there when it happened .
