Well it raining again and today we had planned my first hunt since my Heart Event in April.
So what's a man to do?
Simple put on ya rain coat, grab your rifle and go hunting
So I picked up my mate at 8:30 and headed for our hunting block.
Today we were hunting/ culling Goats and as usual it was AR's only.
The day started well with our first mob sighted within 100m of entering the block the AR's were lit up and shortly after 8 Goats were on the ground.
With Mags reloaded its time to start climbing the hills, the goats around here love being up high.
This will be my first test, how will I go on the hills?
The cardiologist has told me to take it easy, with only moderate exercise so I won't be pushing it too hard.
Well the first series of ridges saw us climb 150m in elevation and I was puffing quite a bit but with a short rest I was right again, good job we rested too because as soon as we crested the rise in front of us we spied our second and much larger mob of goats at about 200m away on the next rise.
With the AR's cycling away nicely I quickly despatched several Goats with my 5 round mag running empty in less than a minute.
My mate who was running a 30 round mag at this stage cleaned up the remainder of the mob, however there was a few escapees that needed to be followed up

Once again the mags were reloaded and away we went again climbing each crest in the hills in turn.
I was feeling quite good now and although I wasn't running up the hills I was managing to drag my sorry arse from one to another without too much difficulty.
As the day went on we cam upon several more mobs that fell quickly to the efficiency of the AR's.
By mid afternoon the rain was getting heavier and we decided it was time to head back to the car.
Retracing our steps saw us encounter several more smaller mobs of goats including this billy.

Once back at the car a tally up was had, we had been hunting for 5 hours, travelled about 3 kms, climbed over 200m in total, shot over 50 goats between us and nearly ran out of ammo, but the best part was I was back hunting again.
I found that I can still climb the hills ok, need to get fitter, but are back hunting...... In the Rain.
Cheers
Pete
