Okay, its going to be a few weeks before I can take another day off work to ''test'' this ammo on some game, so being a little impatient I decided to shoot it into a bucket of water instead. I had the bucket on top of some loose (wet) sawdust from the calf shed (last years calf shit = this years garden mulch). The shot ruptured the sides of the bucket and I had to dig the bullet out of the sawdust after the shot:
The long drill hole did its job, with two out of the four sides shearing completely off. If I were to take the cuts a little further forwards I believe that all four sides would shear off and that is basically what I'd call a success.
Next, to try it on some game to see if this is going to be a winner?

Cut a small cross in the tip in line with the slots lower down. That should help to get the jacket tearing.
Thanks Stu, I'll give that a go too. I don't want it to separate as its going down the barrel, as the twist rate in this barrel is quite fast and that would be a disaster! But the barrel seams to hold it all in place, so I'll take it one step further and see what happens with the longer cuts/cross in front idea of yours (V1.3 - The Stealth Stug?). I'm out of buckets at the mo, so will have to wait for another day
Note: I did fire the last round minus the suppressor just in case the bullet did fail...but all okay.

Interesting project KJ, well done mate......hope your 'new' projectiles work out better....but it looks like you've got the 'headshots' angle covered!!!!!
While I might not be as good as I once was, Im as good once as I ever was!
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
have you considered using cast bullets
Hi, yeah i've been down that path before and got the same results. These new 20mmxdia5mm hollow points with the cut jackets seam to work real good in my at home tests, just gotta find time to go hunting again to proove it.

how is the accuracy of this weapon with all these changes you are making to the projectile?
do you plan on eating the goats?
if not and you are intrested try hollowing one out and filling it with mercury. then cap it with lead.
aparently it makes the bullets explode violently
Iv never personally tryed it, it was in a book I read as a teenager.
I can't imagine that actually working.
"The day of the Jackal" Fredrick Forsyth. The Jackals gunmaker makes them for him to use to take out General DeGaul. The idea being that the mercury keeps moving forward, as the projectile suddenly slows on impact, forcing the front of the projectile to blow out. I'm pretty sure it works.
10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.
Nope pretty sure it's bollocks and you really may as well just have a hollow point
