    Hut options upper rangitata?

Planning an overnight mission into the upper rangitata with a nth island buddy keen to check out some thar country. Was going to go as far in as the 2wd will allow and then walk up one of the valleys and tent but forecast is looking pretty average. Any suggestions for huts that might be a dryer option with walk in access that won’t get too dicey with a bit of water hitting the rivers?

    Cheers in advance!

Yep good call - planning to spend sometime trawling through it today but figured it was worth asking the experts on here as well seeing as I don’t know the country there very well.

Any of the huts up there will probably be crawling with people this time of year. Attempted to hunt from a hut a few times during holiday periods up there and always ended up with a heap of people showing up

If you go to St Winifreds make sure you take insect repellant. Clouds of sandflies.
