thats definitely a chick and the spotlight shes carrying is one of those aussie nightforce jobs .5 bob also says it would be fitted with a red flilter to lessen disturbance and cut the chances of someone seeing the naked beam.
Surprised, what with their night vision, that they did not pick up on the active IR camera illuminating their trail. Even a mobile phone camera would pick it up.

Interesting to see this thread has had a substantial number of views - solid proof we are all interested in helping reduce poaching around the country.
Either that or checking to make sure its not us on the camera.
From what I can tell they are using Thermal handheld. Thermal will not pick up the IR light from a game camera, or see through glass for that matter. If they were using Infra Red intensification NV then they would have the camera in their backpack by now as the cameras light up an area about the size of a couple of tennis courts in size. The spotlight has no Red or IR filter in it.
Snap!!!
Don't think so. But 1992 and earlier scopes for the Dragunov sniper rifle had a simple facility to take out an active infra red source.
"Another very advanced feature when this scope was introduced was the built-in infrared detection screen. After charging the IR filter for 20 minutes the screen was good for about 48 hours of use. This feature allowed the sniper to detect targets that used night vision devices powered by IR illumination. According to optics expert "Tantal" the IR detector was dropped from production scopes in 1992 even though its usefulness in combat would have been dubious much past the mid 1970s." An afterthought on his comment about combat usefulness. Another usefulness of it was to frighten the opposition away from using active infrared, forcing them to buy more expensive 2nd and 3rd generation image intensifying equipment... which is still not working as good as active IR in pitch black overcast night weather, or indoors with no ambient light sources. Inexpensive FLIR remains a long way off.
