    Illegal hunting..does it bother you?

Unfortunately as we all know a number in our hunting community hunt illegally.
Be it spotlighting DOC, using thermal gear in Doc or hunting without permission on private property. As it happens to be as i know other hunters, forestry workers and other people in
the know i get to hear inforamation that i rather not know and frankly laterly its really pissing me off.

Ok, people are going to spotlight areas, hunt deer in DOC using thermal gear but when you know they shouldnt be and they hunting the areas you hunt in a illegal matter and
these guys are out there spotlighting the place up and doing thermal missions its really annoying me.
They basicly getting easy deer in a place i do hard yards in and making my hunting harder than it should be . Now i dont mind if other people hunt spots i go, i happy tell or take people to DOC blocks and tell them to go for it.
But i want it a fair playing field, good luck to them if they get out there and get a deer but these guys that doing it with spotlights andthermal i have no time for now.

Fact is its annoying me that much i feel like doing something about it. still, do i really want to be a nark? Not really, but people should play by the rules and its having a effect on some of my hunting spots
because people want it the easy way and do it illegally.
Im talking about DOc, and yes, theres a little bit oif a jealous feeling about it as sometimes i wish i could do that but i never do it and i dont see why these guys should be doing it in my neck of the woods.

I hate to say it , but i really dont want hear about the law breakers now as i feel its time something was done and im only going to be pissed off for so long.

SAME old story mate.....just pick up your rife and head into the thick shit a little way back from road...the animals will still be there.
Ive noticed how a lot of front country where we would see wallabies on regular basis, and now see stuff all.
just been out to small council reserve where no one but myself has permission to hunt....and the 3 hares Ive been trying to get for years are as spooky as hell. run like stink from 200 yards away and dont stop running.

yeah nah....bad enough to use small rifle but with big rifle ,got to not piss off neighbours AND be super careful of shot direction...the only viable shot I had today had house directly behind it...so moved and hare spooked.

Yes it bothers me, but I can only control what I do. Poaching, spotlighting on DOC land, disrespect for landowners etc is happening. Those same attitudes are evident in all facets of life, but I like to think that those attitudes are a minority in the hunting fraternity. There are f-wits everywhere.
I came out of the Waioeka on Sunday after a couple of days hunting, and most of the road signs had bullet holes in them. Imagine what all the motorists think of hunters when they see that!!! Same with hut books. Non-hunters use the huts also, and some of the comments in the books are made by morons masquerading as hunters. They are not hunters assholes.

My understanding of it, ( could be wrong ) is that you can use them to effectively locate game on DOC land during the hours of darkness, but must still wait until daylight to shoot one.

I see. Seems reasonable. Are they ineffective during daylight?

Don't know if you're taking the piss or not but seriously, read the conditions on your permit, re:hunting hours.Same basic rules have applied since NZFS/Lands and Survey were issuing permits pre-DOC.
