    Importing factory ammunition?

Has anyone done it? (Ex USA)

I am not a reloader and am struggling to find the factory ammo my rifle loves.
I have been on the NZ police website and had a bit of a read & see there are forms for it so it must be possible?

    Cheers

Unless you bring in a dedicated container load you may as well forget it as the price of shipping will give you palpitations. Also you would need to place a very large order to get a decent price. Don't forget that it is difficult to find all calibres in the USA as well.

You might want to investigate these guys. I'm not recommending them in any way, seem a bit dodgy, but if legit, could save some headaches. Make sure they don't ship via Aussie!

I was just looking at a one of purchase of 500 rounds which would do me for years.
A lot of American websites sell this quantity as an option…..

seems pretty reasonable? $420 US + $60 US shipping

Maybe I’d get taxed to death once it arrived in customs?

$60 US shipping isn't going to happen. Dangerous good it'll cost you a lot if an option at all.
It'll be cheaper to get a top of the line reloading set up.

I was just going off this particular websites checkout to my address in the Manawatu.

As you say I suspect there is more to it but it’s hard to find a “Real cost”

@Sika 8 have you tried the nz stuff in 7mo8 sst. Made here in NZ meant to be pretty good. Cant for the life of me think off the companies name that makes its.

Belmont Ammuntion, and they've actually just done a run of 7mm 08 in 139gr sst and 160gr naturalis. Get it while you can.

Not for me to comment but why dont you ASK if a member has the 7/08 dies and assemble the components which will no doubt be magically transformed into ammo you want. That is what makes this Forum so good. My 2C.

Agree 100%. Put together a basic reloading set up.
Cheaper in the long run and you always get the same great performing and consistant ammo.

Or, one of these in your cartridge. Just add a set of scales and your away.

Hunt safe, look after the bush & plug more pests. The greatest invention in the history of man is beer.

Are there dealers in NZ that have an import licence?

A few places in Australia can arrange one off imports of brass, parts and rifles I believe.

Gonna be costly maybe consider reloading.

    7-08 is great

You got have the right mindset to reload iv done it a couple times but it ant for me I'd rather go & buy factory ammo witch I do but then I do make all my own small goods (sausages, meat patties, salamis, bacon, hams) with the venison that I get & I love doing that where a lot off people take all the meat to a butcher so horses for courses

Sounds like the framework of a deal there - find a hunter who reloads and wants smallgoods made up.

    Everybody gets what they want.
