    Anyone know if there is likely to be heavy tramper traffic up that way around end of Jan, mid week? Have heard it can get a bit manic

    Yeah it can get a bit busy at Makahu this time of year.

    But just look for the signs of where most people have gone then go in the opposite direction.

    There's lots of places to explore.

    It's always breezy up there.

    Looking south from the J is the Blow Hard Range, that may give you a clue.

    Only thing that changes with the breeze is the Speed, Direction and the Temperature.
