    Kelly Knight Hut Ruahines

    Hi
Anybody been into Kelly Knight recently? Just called up and asked and the farmer soudned like a stingy cont now. He said "no chance" and then I friendly said all good are you calving or something and he just replied no you dont need to worry it's closed.
Sounds like hes the type of grub that just closes it to everybody because he thinks he's king of the world.
    Maybe I'm wrong?

I rung up to try go in via that way for the roar one year. Got the no but it wasn’t rude or anything. If I remember correctly it was because I had left it a little late and others already had permission to go in so he didn’t want me to crowd the area.

He closes it because some wankers reported him for having cows standing in mud !! Fucked it for Joe public!

Now Ritchie is a friend of mine and Alot of others on here.
He does get super annoyed when people don't ring first but hunters normally aren't in this bracket. It's trampers that usually don't and trampers that may have potted him on the mud bs.
Ritchie dose not have a problem with hunters but this issue has fckd him off.
I do think you may have got him at a bad time unfortunately.
At the end of the day it is his land we need to cross and his permission to give, I respect that. Yes he is lambing at the present also which may have comprised access further.
    Cheers

The kellys access isn't through Ritchie's that's purity. Kellys goes through next door up the dairy runoff block. Which is not legal access it's land owners good will.

Nothing wrong with your original post though - and a reflection of frustrations that many landowners will have with those "passing through." As much as restricted access is frustrating, I completely understand why landowners/leaseholders etc get fed up with the hassle and people abusing the privilege.

It’s unfortunate that all so often it’s the stupid things that force landowners to close down. A bloke I know who allowed access to public land (not anymore) always closed access during winter/spring. I assumed it was for lambing etc but when I spoke with him and had a good conversation it turned out he was simply avoiding the risk of people reporting ridiculous things like the cows standing in mud example above. Pretty sad.

I am planting pines right around my boundary just to stop this sort of carry on. Not that I get up to much, more I just enjoy my privacy...And Shane Jones paid for them

Yeah I rang a couple of nights ago. He told me it was closed. I said oh how long will it be shut for. His answer was a good while yet. Not sure how long that is.?

Ah right so he does have some reason... Even if it's pretty weak. THanks for the input, it's a shame because it was one of my favorite huts to go to during uni and I'm moving up further north from Blenheim so wanted to stay for a few days on the way before I start a new job... Just going to have to go right through I think and spend a few days in the kaimais

Go up over the Waipawa Saddle. Mate has been slaying them just walking up the river. He is using a different gun each trip.
