If you mean the Turangi based former air charter guys, they are long gone. They lost their Maori owned land leases in a bit of a shakeup at the time ( not Lakelands fault ) and closed their business. Was supposedly replaced by a Maori owned business that I never hear about so I don't know if they still provide a service now.
At the time I thought it a great pity as Lakeland were excellent to deal with.
Bugger. Just saw them on the DOC list of operators and found a old thread about them being great to deal with.
Not a lot of options besides helisika from the north.
Do you mean peter Bradley out of Murupara - I think he was called Lakeland at 1 stage
Pretty much called Heli Resources now I think.
Derek Lowe's still flying out of Murupara.
"Helihunt & fish" is another option from the North, I got a price from them (Phil) last year, but he only had a R44 so it didn't really work for our group..... Not sure if they're still going or not.
Hawkes bay helicopters also now have their DOC concession for the Kawekas.
Midwest Heli from the south, I flew with Owen into Manson in April for ex Kuripoponga + looked at doing a repeat trip in June but the price had more than doubled to 4K in the 500E
You could try Joe Farram @ Rotorforce, he has flown me into the Kawekas a couple of times since EKH helicopters shut the doors, but that was with the back country trust doing DOC work so he didn't need a concession, not sure if he actually has one?
I suspect the Helisika prices are tough to beat now.
It's not helisika prices that are the problem it's the dirty shit off trying to close waipakihi road is why you can't fly with them we don't need to support company's that don't want to support people walking in to hunt & fish
