    Lead poison Sika hunt.

Hi guys, Some will remember the Hawken plains rifle I made in .45 cal, well the A K L deer stalkers are having a fly in hunt to the Ahimanawa with Chris Crosse on October 24-26. So as my hip op is good and have been working up loads for hunting with the muzzle loader and I've said it was made for hunting. Have to give it a go, if you talk the talk you have to walk the walk, and I will be walking very quietly. The load for the Hawken, ("Lead poison") I think will do the job is 70grs 3f, 270gr HP bullet that I cast, 2" group at 50mts , with luck my get some venison for the freezer, Cheers, Hombrew.357.

You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !

Have a great time. I fired a friends black powder rifle once, it was fun!! Watched him shoot a few goats, was very funny watching him frantically reloading while the goats watched him

Hi, I put my name down for "Kit Fox", like throwing a dart, I`ve never been in the Ahimanawa`s before, but hopping there will be more deer around seeing its a private lease. Will be at the range on Sunday 20th to see what its like at 100mts , although most bush shots are under 50mts and the main thing is where you put that bullet!, have to take out the lungs, heart with a muzzle loader. You never hurry with a muzzle loader, or you can forget to put the powder in and dry load. I have made up some bullet pulling out tools just in case it happens to ME. Homebrew.357. Kitfox Creek ?
Hunted there when Helisika owned it.
Bit tight, a few nice clearings further up the creek from the bivvy.

Kitfox is fine. R93 and I hunted the next ridge over about that time last year. We found it hard with few animals seen.

We need to do another hunt soon.
I'm keen on a spring hunt for Japs.
Or you could come down and do a chamoose.

Have a black powder day here in the UK on a friends place. One of the most fun shoot days that I've ever had.
Nine guns stand on there pegs, the beaters drive the birds once they have heard around 18 shots they stop and wait for the guns to reload.
just have to make sure you don't double load in the rush of reloading. Takes a bit to get used to keep in swing through the bird because of the delayed shot.
Have not had a go on a black powder rifle though.
    Good luck
