Classic story and one to tell around the campfire in years to come, mate once took 2 left boots on a trip and another guy a know took 270 ammo for his 243.

Sounds like a mint spot tho!

Been there done that, 3 shots at a spiker around 100 mtrs, though in my defence (oh come on 'we have to have one') they were off hand, uphill and newbie me didnt know you had to 'aim low, when shooting high' so i aimed all three at the top of his shoulder

Hit my confidence for six, but three days later i dropped an 8-pointer and it was erased from my mind....untill i read this.....

Been there done similar, shooting gongs with some forum members then off to spot x to get some meat and had lost my windage zero (easy to do with a 308 )

Easy shot pretty close line up on the atlas joint, bang," Miss!" from the spotters... bang "miss" bang " you shot it in the arse" oh fark I know whats happened

Was all tidied up fairly quickly thankfully buy someone whose windage was not a full turn out.

Yeah I'm hoping to get to the range and find out how far off it was. Spotter reckoned the first shot was at least a foot to the right at 160y. Didn't tell me at the time mind you

I have done similar, lined up on a nice chamois buck, he was nice and close so no need for playing with the twisty bits, bang! Chamois stood in the same spot looking at me, put another one down range and he still stood looking at me, realised that after putting a few rounds down range at 700 ish yards on steel the day before I hadn't turned my dial back to zero! Put it back on zero and Chamois was still standing there looking at me, settled back in for a shot and he decided he had had enough of this game and trotted off over the ridge. Good game chamois.

First round at 50m point of impact 165mm right...That's 22 inches @170m. No wonder I missed.

    Made a 13moa correction

Then moved to 100m to check my grouping

18mm 3 shot group - my best to date
