Thread: looking for a chamois or tahr. Tradbow, a backpack and 2 weeks

Got a trip coming up. Plan is to walk into a west coast valley and chase chamois and tahr. I would like to really have a good go for a chamois but certainly won't pass on tahr or a spot where they both hang out.

Was thinking Whataroa if the weather allows ie- Not like it has been recently. I have walked in there before and had success.

Backup plan if the west side is a wash out is to go for a wander up the Huxley.

Any animal number reports in either area, or any other notable areas worth a look? I tried to contact heliservices to ask them but I just get a 404 error on their website.
