Mines at least 30 and no probs
Mines at least 30 and no probs
i used to have a mercator vintage 1985, one day the blade snapped while doing nothing more than rabbit skinning, since then i have tried and owned many knives but am now solidly a buck fan.
that said my zipper fixed blade developed a hairline fracture on the gut hook.
i sent it back to buck, they replaced it no questions asked, gave me a pocket knife for my troubles and a letter from the founder apoligising that one of his knives had failed
Any photos of these barely used knives? What were you doing at the time of failure?
Contact the manufacturer, by all accounts they are responsive to customers, based on Bladeforum feedback.
Hi all
I emailed the manly factory and after they saw the photos of the broken steel locking system they have offerred to replace it themselves at no cost to myself, very good service! The blade steel is excellent, it is the design of the locking system that puts a lot of strain on the spring that is the problem. The first knife was in my pocket and had minimal use and when I went to open it had a broken locking system and the blade just swung around dangerously. The second has had even less use and was in my cudboard and when I went to get it, it had broken the locking system and jammed closed. But I have to say again the parent company in Bulgaria have been excellent in their response, and on their website they have a two year warranty, whereas on Ezdirect's website I cannot find any warranty information about the Manly knives.
Cheers
