Similarly, as a lawful occupant, you have the right to tell them to piss off.

I have heard of this 'right of access' and I say it is bull shit as there are many properties in NZ where you cant even get onto the property let alone to the front door...but in this particular case we were mentioning police who are an entirely different animal to the general public.
