Well I'm in the right age bracket, but certainly not a hunter yet. I first picked up a rifle about 2 and a bit years ago, other that three shots with a 22 about 20 years ago which resulted in 1 rabbit and a hare at 70-90m (my first shots with anything). I'm with geezejonesy with the three daughters and getting very grey at 48, but not getting heavy and lazy like VC as I'm the bread winner, cook and chief bottle washer as well. Sure wish I'd got into this a lot longer ago before this body was so knackered. If I was any other species I would have been put out of my misery tears ago.
So far I've only done small game and the odd game bird while amassing the gear and skills to tackle something bigger. It will come, ... coz I'm a determined cheeky little sod.
ive always said my four boys are easier than 3 girls anyday ya poor bastards!
Ive got a couple mates with three girls and they are beaten men!
Im 52, been going in the hills since I was 13. Get into the backcountry most weekends, and if not for weekend , day trips. lucky to live in a place where I can walk straight out my door into the hills. Mostly solo trips , happy with my own company. Observe lots animals and only take meat for freezer when needed.Young guys round here want to know my Spot X's but they're to lazy walk.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
