Yep i have seen those reviews, I was skeptical at how poorly the MR came out of that review!

Mindful Hunter reviewed Stone Glacier, Kifaru, Exo, Mystery Ranch and Kuiu a couple of years ago. Bought all the packs himself. What was impressive about this review is he actually tested the packs under weight and scored them accordingly. Stone Glacier and Exo performed extremely well. https://youtu.be/FdkN_rAeSx0?si=Tgpcps_jjkVA-hie

I bought the Marshall, the zips are waterproof but when its really bad i put the pack liner cover on just to keep the pack dry

The zips in my MR are good, waterproof etc.

Packs are like rifles in that fit is everything. Some people (pack buyers) are easy to fit. Lots of choice. Some a anatomical weirdos, some are just picky and hard to please. Some want to spend the most, and talk it up.

Try a few if you can. They are all fit for purpose.

As an early adopter of Kuiu pack system I have invested my$ there, one frame & large (90L) pack I bought 2nd hand at the start and then picked up several smaller bags either 2nd hand or on sales for day hunts or overnight. I really like the CF frame and strap system. Very light weight, modular and adjustable. However their fully featured bags (Pro series, plenty of pockets) aren’t exactly light weight. My Pro6000 weighs in at around 2.4kg. They offer the LT range of bags which are lighter but they don’t have fk all pockets or compartments which I find very handy for multi day trips. So I wonder if there’s a local manufacturer of light weight gear who might be able to come up with a light weight bag with a few compartments that could fit different pack frames. I recently came across some one with a pack from Kiwi Ultralite that was super light (like 0.5kg or less ?) really just a bag with shoulder straps and waste belt so not suitable for heavy loads, or in fact anything more than 10kg. But got me thinking ….. could that sort of bag be made to marry up to a frame ?

MR have just been bought by Yeti.
A new range of packs and frames are being introduced.
There will likely be good deals on the current packs to move them on.

And I think it's the Rod and Tackle store in Taupo that is the showroom that had all of the packs to try.
