You couldn't get a worst roar block system and considering how popular the area is it's pretty dismal.
Could be a dud roar in there anyway looking at those photos of the poisoned deer.
    Bugger !!
Its a shame for sure how the system is set up.
1080 doesn't get them all mate. Might be heaps of feed for the ones left and some good condition animals as a result

2min after the system went live !!

Interesting thing is that only 2 of my 4 chosen blocks were in the "5 quickest filled blocks" listed in the email.

It just doesn't make any sense !!

Only 5 mile which was my last choice was on the email, the other 4 I picked were not mentioned at all.

None of the ones I selected were mentioned as well. Maybe a well thought and written email to DoC Renwick on the merritts of a ballot system may help for next season. Certainly can't hurt especially if it is polite.

Here is the reply i got from DOC regarding my application and there backwards system…

“ We were able to see you did get your first application in within the first couple of minutes, followed by a second attempt. You are correct it has not processed as it should? The Webteam are going to look further in to it.”

My lovely wife put in a ballot application for me first thing Monday and we missed out. Never mind.
This afternoon I spoke to someone at DoC Renwick and apparently change in the system is no it's way.
kukuwai and 300wsm for life like this.

    @Shearer
Any comment on the nature of proposed changes ?
I think many would be happy with a better system for allocating Roar blocks.

I couldn't find any live ones after a few hours in a helicopter, from what I was told the NZDA couldn't either using a helicopter as well. Sure was a lot of dead ones though. They filtered in slowly over time. Still not what is was pre 2017 though.

They really need to go to a proper ballot system like Haast do.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!

Mildly interested in what you were doing in the area requiring 'a few hours' flying time. The only operations having taken place that i know of are aerial spraying, pre-feed and 1080 applications, aerial inspection of Transpower lines. That and a certain chopper operator who shall remain nameless who gets around a bit.
