    There seem to be buffalo in NZ because the cheese and yoghurt I get at the farmer's market is made from buffalo milk and made in NZ? I'm not sure what type of "buffalo" they are but would safely bet that they aren't Cape Buffalo.

    Asian water buffalo, I believe the herd was/is in South Auckland/Waikato.
    There were some for sale on trademe a while ago too.

    There is also a herd up at Redvale owned by Chris Wills. They are making Mozzarella with the milk.

    Is anyone familiar with th guy in the Scottish highlands who owns a very large piece of real estate who is wanting to [ re wild ] it with animals that lived there thousands of years ago.Moose Wolves Bear etc.
