    More Tahr culling coming up

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/timaru-heral...f-tahr-control

Just in case you thought Doc were limited to 125 hours of culling and that this was a real blow already ....think again.

The Second round of eradication is about to begin. (or more like the 3rd round)

I think this will be the end of Tahr hunting as we know it. The damage that has been done from all this culling will take many years to recover if ever.

The goal was to eradicate nannies and leave a few bulls to shut hunters up for a couple years.

But guess what.... without a good sustainable population which includes breeding stock then the bulls wont be there in the future.

What is happening with the Tahr foundation??? Have they given up the fight and conceded defeat because of the Himalayan Tahr control plan??

Surely the total population is down to very low levels now and well under the Tahr plan limit
Save our Tahr. They belong in the southern alps.

I laughed when i read at the end “We expect to make a decision on the reconsidered Tahr Control Operational Plan by the end of the month.” It was already decided long before any consultation.

So what options do we have left from a government dictatorship that we now have?? We have been backed into a corner.

So this is what Doc and the extremists that are ruling and ruining our country do your people of NZ.... you destroy our recreation, our passion, our livelihood, goals and aspirations.
There was no proper consultation and the lies coming from these extremist greenies are obscene.

The media are fueling the propaganda to sell it to the city folk whom are believing all the lies.

With a headline that says the second phase is about to begin?

Just remember it's a 'Stuff' article you're referring to. Hardly the most reliable or accurate source of infomation.

    On TV1 news tonight.

Seems there will be less ‘culling’ outside of Mt Cook National park

I’m not sure if they got that right? I don’t get that impression from the doc website anyway. In July they implied more of a focus in the parks but shot 1900 in the parks and 2800 outside the park. Despite it being a far larger area you’d expect similar from similar hours wouldn’t you?

And I like how they say they considered every submission with an “open mind” bullshit we all know Who’s mind this is driven by and it’s not a considered one

While it's easy (and probably quite satisfying) to be critical from my understanding of the boundaries there is going to be a big area where no aerial control will be carried out.
