Fatty, hoping for plenty of snow where we are going. Gondolas open at Queenstown on the 4th of September so I'm counting down the days till then for the Glory

Finally got my new wheelset so could fit the Bluto to the fatboy. I'm liking both updates. Weighs 13kg all up now, 2kg lighter than as it left the bike shop

Wow. Was all that lost in the wheel set? XT brakes too?

Pretty much. Basically 1.5kg less compared to the factory wheelset when setup tubeless. Tubes in the factory wheels are really heavy, so if you haven't converted to tubeless I would recommend that. Also changed bar to carbons, shorter stem, lighter brakes, and much lighter cassette

Ok. Was thinking of a shorter stem as I am getting a fraction of understeer. What length did you go to?

If any of you guys want carbon rims for your fat bikes I still have a few 26" ones sitting in the corner of my office doing nothing

50mm easton haven. With 750mm carbon haven bar

Not quite mate. Been on the go for the last 6 months... Waiting for parts to get them finished. I haven't really got myself a pressie to be honest. Slipping!

Have a mate that decided an eMTB would be the business to get to the back of the farm he hunts on. He had a plan and was rather pleased with himself.
I ran into him about 6 months later and he was very - unusually - quiet about it. After some truth serum he fessed up to stacking it big time coming downhill with an animal on his back with carnage resulting to body, rifle and eBike. Thankfully the deer was OK as he protected the carcass with his body and rifle.
I am still disappointed there was no video evidence as I believe it would have been gold. I haven't heard any more about the eBike since then.

Having spent the last 38 years (jeeze, has it really that long?) Hauling deer out of the hills on 2 wheelers (including deer in saleable condition) I can confidently confirm that there's no 2 wheeler MTBs out there (not even considering motive power) that come close to the frame strength, handlebar strength, braking power and suspension travel of an ICE powered dirt bike. I have hit hidden holes in the tussock so hard that I have 'stoppied' with an 80kg stag across the fuel tank/handlebars with me 100kgs on board. That's gonna do some damage to any light weight MTB's.

If you want to be quiet on a bike, just travel slowly.
