Thread: Mt Cameron block

Long time reader,even longer since I've posted...slack I know.

I was wondering if any of you have hunted the Mt Cameron block through helisika...I'm heading in first week of april and want to know a bit more about the place..I know the hut looks mint😅and there is no meatsafe or water tank so itl be a trip to the river to refill bottles...on the map it looks like a good block but any info would be great.

Terrain wise there is a bit of everything in there..you should find water around the hut area. The sad thing is you pay $2000ish to fly there from poronui.. but it's an hours walk in from the Napier side. Generally enough animals in there but beware of other humans..

Servo any hotspots or hot tips about the block I've never been there and just been studying google earth I see a few good clearings and slips that will be in shooting range of th 7MMS rm

That was northern side of Mt Cameron on Maori land
Had a farmer mate who had a 300 and contacts with local Iwi who flapped me in there a few times for bugger all cost
I only hunted bush - got pissed off with wind out in open tops and Ngaruroa sidling - and I was training a dog so loved the open Beech Native which was like heaven to what I have here

Many years ago...identify the red beech areas and sit and watch and listen where the beech bounders the manuka..always have a view channel to watch.
