If you are going to be drying your rifles out in the hot water cupboard, and everyone does, then you should at least get a chain or similar to secure it. Hard lesson for the young guy, but its that kinda thing that leads to criminals getting their hands on firearms. Same as people leaving firearms in vehicles and that kinda thing.

I can't say I have full faith in the Police's figures, but thats all we have to go on.

If it was five per day it would be head line news to encourage a public out cry , and another demand another firearm confiscation!

Pity we are not in Canada that have the balls to tell their government to get stuffed! Seems their confiscation is going very badly indeed! The police won’t touch it and they cannot find a private company that wants to door to door to asking for people to hand in their firearms

The police proposals represent to my extended family an utter betrayal of the terrible costs to our fathers and grandfathers who sacrificed so much in order that we who succeed and remain are able to live as free and independent individuals and families. The current proposals are an affront to and betrayal of our traditions so dearly paid for by the blood of our fathers.

A lot more to it than just fees. There are privacy and principles and the threat to the sacrosact of ones home and normal lifestyle rights.

Are you talking about the Register? You've mentioned legislation, what legislation?

What privacy and threat to ones home? I really don't know what you are talking about?

Fair enough, was just interested in what he was talking about. Didn't mean to come off like that.

Such extremely widely targeted so-called "legislation" is creating tyranny by stealth and fiscal deprivation. No MP with any respect for New Zealand freedoms and the costs of achieving and saving those could support the direction and police intent of this mess.
Putting my feelings another way; how can I as son of my decorated soldier Dad and grandson of one grandad who developed his waikato farm with 5 turkish bullets still in him, and my other grandad who was gassed twice and then sent home so ill that he was forced to walk off his farm with my nana and two children and all their remaining posessions on a single horse and dray, and me being fully aware of those sacrifices, watch this developing tyranny and stay silent?
I OWE THEM AND KIWIS OWE ALL LIKE THEM AND WE COLLECTIVELY HAVE TO HONOUR WHAT THEY GAVE US AND OUR COUNTRY.

At work we average a container a week so yes a shit load come in everyday. Very very rarely one gets held up in customs for inspection.

When I moved back from overseas I just put all my stuff in work containers. Un-declared. Guys at this end just stashed it till I got back. Did get told off by the procurement team when they found out but hey.

So all you need is a person at each end.

Yes I believe that this is happening. I did see a while ago that a pistol was seized amongst some batteries or something for a forklift if i remember correctly.

They way that people carried on about this you would think that they had found the only pistol imported to NZ illegally since customs started.

Its just logical to accept that the easiest way to get guns into the country illegally, is this way. Why would the crims do it any differently or make it hard for themselves??

Im aware of a case where a former work colleague approached me about securing some of his grandfathers weapons after he passed on and a piss useless cousin let them rust .as a matter of protocol I advised him to contact nz police to get t heir input...whoooa he d been dead 18months and no one had bothered to check/tell them.

In any event it was straightforward -ex RNZA Fbird was the vettor -once she saw I was TF army and my setup -no sweat. There appears to be a total reliance on statisics -politics -lies lies and statistics. Academia write you theorem them nitpick stats &literature to support it .gullible general public willtake you ay your word.
Given the attention focused on us LAFO and the police paranoia any criminal with half a brain would make bloody sure the weapon was brought in used then given the heave ho as far as possible away before the bovine excreta hits the circling blades .given the cheapness of 3d printers and the sometimes dubious morality of those inhabiting the computer world and our conspiracy theorists, what not to say a quick printing job for quick bucks -use dissolve weapon etc.
media of course sensationalist pricks they are will publish any photo to garner attention under banner high powered MSSA weapons -reality is often a slug gun or broken down DIY job ,more dangerous to user than the recipient. also how many kiwis have done the big OE or are doing it yet still hold an FAL-NZPHQ would have no idea.

    Unfortunately behind the Herald paywall.

    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/convic...LKX3UWHXNYHS4/

But the guts of the story, one Kishor Chandra; a Hells Angels member has bought through “straw men” $47k worth of firearms in 2 months! Late in 2022. Going in front of the courts now.
21 x Alfa carbines from the Napier Gun City store. The strawmen got $500 for each gun. 3 guys did the purchasing for Chandra.

In my view legislation needs to give police the power to charge gun city. They have 3 fuckwits buying 21 guns between them over a short period of time. Let’s assume 7 each.
What could they possibly be doing but on-selling a firearm, known for its simplicity in converting to a pistol..
Safe to assume GC make 100% margin at least. They are in the legal trade of supplying firearms to the criminal fraternity.. and making very good money from it.

Time to wake up deniers. This is one guy in one town. 21 guns into crims hands.

How the fuck would someone purchasing seven identical guns not raise suspicion?
Other weird thing is aren't Police supposed to approve which firearms get import approval? How the fuck did something like those Alpha carbines get approved?
