    New on here...

Hi Everyone - I live in Dunedin, just moved here a week ago from Wellington. I'm new on here and thought I'd say 'hi'. I'm really interested in getting into hunting, deer mainly. I have no experience, no gear, don't have a firearms licence and have never shot an animal before. I'm going to do my Firearms Safety Course next Tuesday - so all going well that will put me on the right track to getting my licence.

Anyway, if anyone has any advice about getting started and what I should/shouldn't do it would all be welcome, and appreciated.

Cheers - have a good one!

    Hey mate. I'm in Dunedin.
Get in contact with local NZDA.
Lots of advice to be had and they have a rifle range for practice.

Welcome Matt. I am sure the boys down south will hook you up with some advice and experiences.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
