Thats the great thing about bows, got my fallow down there but a long long way to go!
Chital are more beautiful in real life than even the pics, theyre just so stupid its not really hunting. They are herd animals that live in open plains and you can easily get to within 150 m from them while they're looking at you (in a car even closer) before they'll move off. also because of dingos they dont like to stray too far from farms so they're always within 5km. The challenge is that the difference between a cracker and an average head is only 3 or 4 inchese which is hard to judge on the hoof.
They'd be a great challenge with the bow though and thats what I'm planning on doing in the next couple of years
Here's my 2 reds from this year.
And some other old stuff. Not even sure where they all are now.
Tahr (12.75")
Chamois (10")
Here's a beauty from the meat days when I was a bit younger ...
And here's a cast that I picked up in the Ruatiti public land 4 years ago...
Anyone can get this stuff. The secret is doing the hard yards and living long enough. I have been fortunate so far with the latter, and not very good at the former

Yeh probably got a couple of months on ya. Need to keep reminding myself that when I look at my trophy room and get disheartened ha
