just recently updated mine to one of these flash newer jobbies...my old one was also NZ army issue but MUCH MUCH earlier issue, thin waterproof material with domes down the edges, origonally had 3 lilo type matresses that slid into pockets in the base....
sliding a closed cell foam mat inside bivy bag under the inflatable sure helps keep things in place and adds to warmth.

Mate that's a Viet Nam era sleeping bag cover. I'd offer it up to a museum if I were you

    haha.
I had one of those as a boy scout in Singapore in the 70's. Vietnam didn't seem a long time ago then.

The outside 3 tubes always seemed to leak and deposit you on the ground

I can't ever remember getting through a night without at least one of them losing pressure. I remember the lilos looking like Norman Gunston's face, all covered in plasters attempting to bung up all the holes in them

I had a nz army one made by Macpac if I recall correctly. It weighed almost a 1kg. Better off with a light wt tent was my thought or fly and ground sheet.

There it is. My ultralight tent weighs 120 grams more, and you can sit up in it as well as take your wet clothes off before you get into your sleeping bag - plus the dog fits in as well. I wouldn't look at them unless you were given one for free.
