I must be an old fudd too mate, had to laugh reading your comment about jangly shit music as i feel the same. often i will see a youtube hunting vid and think ill watch that but turn it off when they overdo the loud shit music.

Last nights episode. Four newbie hunters all making one shot kills on tahr at between 350?m and 650m! My god.
Looked like they had a ball.

What i liked they let them practice, dry fire, showed just enough to see a couple of them let go of the rifle after the shot, thats mean but they pulled off the shots beautifully.

pleased I wasnt only one to see that...first ever rifle shot nails animal at further than I will shoot...thats good coaching.

Got to hand it to Greg his reloading and rifles are set up spot on, guess they dial in any wind adjustment as well, great shooting

Yes, good to see lots of coaching, guidance and dry firing. Even so impressive shooting for first time behind a large (light) centre fire rifle.
I was more concerned about some of the 4wd footage, not sure I’d take the family Prado up there.

When I drive my Hilux into unknown riverbeds I sometimes get stuck. When I take 400m+ shots on animals I sometimes lose the odd one.

I thoroughly enjoy NZ Hunter Adventures but find it hard to believe they never ever screw up.

YOU DONT watch enough episodes if you think that....... they have had some spectacular misses....

Of course they do. And are humble enough to admit to some of their screw ups (flooded tent site).

But just like you and me we don't write about our misses and mistakes on here, just our successes. 'tis Hunan nature.
I was very happy to celebrate the girls' successes. Through a tear in my eye.

Just binge watched 3 episodes after the talk here.

Loved the last one, Father Daughters. What an epic trip for them all. Just great to see them enjoy the outdoors. Four spectacular shots, and a genuine appreciation for what they’d done.

One of the best ones was Duley shooting at a deer on a rafting trip.
He misses then makes the comment,( I don't know what happened there)
Kudos for putting it on his show as we have all done exactly that!

TBH im a big fan of the show but that last episode didnt captivate me. I have great memories of hunting those braided rivers in Canterbury. Remember a forum hunt must have been about 2009 and I nearly lost a brand new Ranger crossing a flooded stream up by erewhon. Works Ranger not mine lol . Would have taken some explaining.
Back to the shooting though 5-600 m is bread and butter with the right gear as the girls proved . Start going further and you need everything right including lady luck sometimes.

I remember with clarity shooting my first bull . It was bedded down at 450 yds and just smoked it with the 7mmRUM . Shooting that rifle with a 22 power NF scope that would have been the equivalent of plinking targets at 50m .

It's good to see females on hunting vids because it gives them a different vibe. More lighthearted and not so macho. I'm not meaning the Duley's do the macho "he man" stuff, because they don't. I more meaning YT hunting vids... But Hunting With Tui etc have a different vibe with women involved.

Re; the coaching. It was great to see. But.. I've been teaching a lady to hunt and one thing I've noticed is that women use their ears when you explain stuff, and put it into practice...

I really enjoy the NZ Wild Adventures YouTube vids. Tasman certainly puts in the hard yards, shows the misses, no macho crap, really light hearted and self depreciating, takes as much meat as possible. I remember one episode where he carried a 40kg pack full of gear and meat out of some gnarly country. It's always funny seeing what bit of equipment is going to come out of his pack on the tops.... The one I laughed at the most was when he carried a fish smoker right up to the tops to hot smoke his game!

I also love watching Tasman just to see what gear he is going to pull out of the pack next. He also never addresses it, there will just be a shot of him with the mincer on the edge of a wooden chopping block, bottle of wine in the background.

@Toyah And a wooden table and chopping board, pasta maker..... A 3 litre bottle of milk, big jar of peanut butter.... I laughed at the one where Tasman and Arven shot a nanny tahr and spent the next few days at the hut doing big cook ups and ate all of it!
