If you end up with the surgery make sure the specialist is a good 'un with a good strike rate on your type of surgery for the re-built shoulder. By the sounds of it hopefully you don't have too much in the way of complications, which is a really good sign.
For me it was a exacerbated by a brachial plexus injury where the nerve was pinched rather than severed but still meant no feeling and muscle use (although it progressively got better and better) until the nerve had re-grown down the sheath again at 1mm per day. Talk about frustrating!! But I do now have a built in weather station in my right shoulder now that can be a useful toy.
Thanks for the story and really interesting considering the shots weren't heard and it does tell a pretty important story for us all, even when we walk in as a party and then hunt alone.
Here's hoping for a excellent recovery for you and stay on top of that re-hab!

Managed to partially pop mine after coming a big gutser on steep face while taking the back legs off a jap stag (was going to say boning but...) 2 months ago. Got it back in the right spot but a real bitch coming off the hill in the dark and rain, holding a rifle and trying not to slip again! Had a mate with me that reckoned he would take the best of my gear and leave me to die so get walking. Hes a Blaser owner so a Tikka is probably below him. Wanker!
Had both my shoulders reconstructed about 20 years from sporting and stupidity injuries so this pissed me off. Off to surgeon soon to see if its knife work again. Too be fair still happy my knees are still ok. Touchwood....
Been hunting since and been a bit more careful!
