    Big is good

You can still cut down a little tree with a big chainsaw

    308 or bigger

Yep, sure you can kill them with a 223, 243, but get a few running around, your shot placement will start to suffer & then you will be chasing wounded pigs around, if you don't have a dog it will take you a while to find them, if you manage too at all

Pigs leave bugger all of a blood trail, they can take a hiding & disappear real quick, never to be seen again....

Yeah thats exactly what I dont want. Ive seen pigs shot with a 308 over here and they still manage to run 80yds and the shot placement was spot on, thats why I was thinking 300/wsm, I just like the idea of being able to chuck a big lump of lead even at distance.

Picture of a few bowled over with the trusty 300wm, one on the right copped one right between the eyes but had a little dirt applied to hide the hole to avoid pissing of the PC brigade.
    180 grain Accubonds.
Shot a few pigs a few days after these with the 308, same result using 168 grainers, pigs were dead, very dead.

Reminds me of the saying "overkill is under rated"

i almost had a black pig just like that last week, the cows in the paddock next to my house were running around and i looked out to see a black pig chasing/playing with them and my eyes lit up. In the commotion the kids came out to see what was going on and i now know that the neighbour (that only has a small amount of land and they aren't her cows) has a pet pig "Wilson". He had got out and went to play with his cow mates, i guess it was lucky the kids were here as the neighbour would have been well upset if Wilson had of received a .223 hole through the vitals.
