I agree re the domestics, as you said though that's not some under the radar operation, It's fair play and common sense. If you're having an argument so bad you need to be lawfully separated you maybe shouldn't have a FAL in all honesty. Outside of that I think it's a very large jump to think police are just waiting for your wife to raise her voice to swoop in and take your FAL, the speeding stuff is also subjective are these people doing 120 past a 40 school or 55 in a 50? I do 55 in a 50 and I'll get a chat about my FAL? I doubt it. On top of all this there would have to be some form of competency within the police that I would argue based on previous events just doesn't exist.

With the modern world, no consequences, very few boundaries what else is expected when the age arrives for a FAL or drivers license, got to be a great failure rate. There's probably a few of us oldies who slipped threw the net but most new the consequences from our actions though.

I don't really have an issue with the domestics thing , as the new guy said if the police get involved then you kinda got to expect repercussions . And this country does have a pretty bad track record of home violence....
Not sure about the new idea of having a disgruntled ex being able to effect your licensing though . That could open up doors for retaliation by the ex purely out of spite .
And a guy I know was pulled for speeding 5km over the limit and he said the first thing the cop pointed out was the fact he was an LFO which we both found a bit baffling , what has that got to do with a minor speeding charge ....

They’re most probably enforcing current legislation....at a extreme edge of the bell shaped curve. Seems like any excuse will do.

I reckon the police are keen to make any firearms related arrests.

ANYTHING, so long as it has firearms or LFO's involved then they will be keen as to make a deal out of any excuse.

If you don't think this is the case then you might be a bit naive.

Funny thing is while that’s true for some of the organisation and it’s ok to slag of the whole organisation because of those ‘some’ it’s not ok for the organisation to slag off all gun owners because of ‘some’ of THEM!

The sad thing is you had to bring it up at all.

Pretty sure most people here will tell you it isn't the frontline beat cops doing their best in a rather thankless role.... but rather the heirachy, the system, and the slipped-through-vetting bad apples, that we want to see keel-hauled.
Unfortunately, due to the old-boys-club. and somehow a complete lack of accountability... that doesn't happen at any level. So overall trust diminishes.
Not to mention a generally escalating level of crime, to add the perception of ineffectiveness...

Whoever said it first: Bigger whitewash than laundry day for the kkk.
Well that’s the first grenade I’ve had to duck from, this ducking for cover paid off.

BTW mimms, I just through the comment out there as a ‘think about it gesture. No I’m not a cop and freely admit the cop admin crew are the problem and in some cases more focused on ‘climbing the ladder’ and taking the path of least resistance instead of doing what they should

I believe that every week Police would review a list of firearms license holders that have had any form of touch point with Police in the last week, with the view of determining whether or not it affects the license holders fit and proper status. This is nothing to be concerned over if you simply don’t come to the attention of Police.

Right- The speeding one is quite correct - excessive speed or demerits will give you problems. Combine it with suggested violence/drugs or alcohol and no amount of lubricant will save you.

I had letter of revocation from the area commandeer, subject to me making submissions - my crime was an excessive number of tickets for exceeding 100kmh. No reckless/dangerous or other charges.

Fronted for interview - did learn that they do revoke a reasonable number - but the look on his face was priceless when I walked into the room - I was clearly not what he was expecting.

I was mostly just embarrassed at wasting a very senior officers time - out of respect for his rank I am doing my best to behave for the next three years - till renewal time.

    Yeah, that is correct.
I did fail to mention that not all cops are scumbags. Just the pricks at the top mostly.
But there are plenty of frontline rambo wannabe's out there, usually with an ego to match.

I am just a hard done by civilian, who has lost respect for the police as a whole.
In saying that, I personally know some cops, and they seem normal and ok.

If everyone left wherever they have been, carrying one more piece of litter than they started with, then we would live in a truly tidy place.
