My mate who was on his second hunt had bent down to check some poo, as he looked up a deer was standing 10m in front of him then bolted. He wasn't too sure what to do, and she was goooooone. But he was stoked none the less. He also learned the hard way about crossing slow flowing creeks. Instead of finding a narrow bit he decided to try run through the widest bit. Nek minute, up to his thighs in mud, stuck. Classic.
We rolled on some more and came across a deer or 2 skipping down below us. We tied to get down but they too were gooooone. All good.

So no deer again but another good weekend with mates in the bush.

Good stuff, I'd like to go back down and have another look there, A mate told me of an area to go look at, But need to find out if it's been bombed yet ahhhh.

Was down in the Piropiro flats area last weekend, had a look around the Ketemarangi track, saw some grazing, fresh-ish shite and tracks. Was my first time up there, didn't spot any animals, but was a mint time nonetheless.

Yeah we saw about 30 odd on the way out. There smart though, they hang out in the paddock with the sheep

A guy that was at the camp ground had a couple of chats with us. He was hunting up Ketemarangi. He didn't get anything though. But said there was sign around.

The DoC huts in the village are a good place to stay if you are not wanting to stay out in the middle Haggie.
