Ruahines is a perfect place for a keen beginner who doesn't mind putting in the miles. I'm only 18 and shot my first hind and stag out of there this year, could've shot a lot of hinds that's for sure.

Seen 50 odd wild deer this year so far. starting to get success in the most jungle like areas in Tauranga, I've seen more deer than deer sign up in welcome bay. Going to attempt to roar/croak in a fallow stag this year.

Went up this creek in the ruahines yesterday, had so many deer up it it looked like cattle had been in the bush

What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Stinging nettle, wet and up hill. Typical Snee Rd country .
Have you got anywhere with the same deer population that has no stinging stuff, is dry, and is down hill both there and back from the car park?

That stinging nettle shit is horrible, remember rubbing some dock on it and fixing it on the farm but in the bush felt awful and ten numb for three bloody days! Any bush remedies out there?
