It all depends on the approach.
If you turn up and just ask, then the answer is usually No.
You need to put a bit of thought into it.
1 Your appearance (Have a bloody shave look clean and tidy and not like your about to rob the place)
2 Time of day! If it's some cow cocky then he's not going to like it if you rock up when he's just got in from the shed!
3 Offer something in return. I always offered meat or his/her favourite drop. The meat was always dropped off package with what it was..ie back stake etc. The last thing someone wants to feel is used.
4 If I was then let on I always made sure that I closed gates and let them know if I saw anything off, as in broken water pipes fences.
Even stood up the odd cast sheep.
If you follow theses steps then your rate of success is likely to be high.. Worked for me anyway.

If you offer something back it dose not feel so rude, they don't feel used and everyone's a winner
    stretch and BLABLANZ like this.

Our family farm used to be on the edge of the Tangihua forest (north of aklnd), used to be lots of goats and from my old friends comments it appears there's a few deer and pigs too now days.
We used to hunt off our farm and up the creek but I'm sure there is some public access too.
Look at doc website and confirm access if in doubt.
Not sure what the point of a forum is if it's not for sharing information.
