I've never eaten a rat before, but I'm actually really keen on giving it a go. Might be a good way to help keep numbers down...

If they are as big as the ones they were telling us about in that "feed the chickens" town up north, there could be quite a bit of meat on them.....and potentially quite lean meat.

I can,t believe this environment destroying highly toxic agent is allowed anywhere on this little planet, in this enlightened age. Thankfully, most sane governments of the world have banned the use of this very cruel poison. Where are all the animal welfare groups in this animal holocaust. Saddens me when I am back home in the bush (nz) and I don,t hear the birds like we did when I was a boy. No it,s not a loss of hearing. Most of the shiny arses that condone and enforce the use of this inhumane agent have probably never seen a once healthy animal suddenly lose it,s mind with pain and fear and die an agonising death. Shame shame shame on the powers that be for allowing the continued use of this disgusting method of ""pest control"". This pic is from our local free rag. Another bureaucratic stuff up.Name: rsz_img021.jpg

Sorry @Moa Hunter that is footage from behind the Titirangi shops where the rats are the size of cats and chickens are a plague on their own
Word on the street is a local business feeds the chickens (till the older ones disappear) which brings the rats

I've eaten quite a bit of Pussy in my day, some had a strong flavour like Kina but mostly good, and lets be honest they are not the most attractive of meals - so I imagine that Rats being part of the same food chain will surprise you. But I wouldn't start with one's trapped round an offal pit.

Well if She walked into the sea and never came back it certainly would be a good start.
