    Watch the NZ Hunter series, particularly the one where he takes his wife hunting. That general area (North Canterbury, from the Waimakiri up to the Lewis) is as good a place as any to start in the Sth Is. Enjoy, there are enough deer for everyone, and those who work hard will reap the rewards (usually, but thats hunting)

    Should add, if you haven't hunted in the Sth Is yet, its best to go with someone and not be too ambitious, it might take a couple of trips to get really proficient - the Southern Alps and especially its rivers, are not that forgiving of poor preparation or haste.

    Cheers for that mate. Yea I have been hunting down there few times b4. Just doing bit of homework for next trip in year or twos time.
