    Road access to kawhatau base ruahines

    Thinking of taking the family for a road trip over the Xmas break, towards the ruahine country, someone told me that access to kawhatau base is closed and we have to walk up the river. Is this correct, pretty hard to do with a three year old. Cheers.

    yeah I think so, check with local doc. something about new land owners or something. last I went up ( almost 2 years ago now) could still drive to the base but had to ring first.

    Yes closed to driving, new Manager on the farm pulled access.

    One thing i will tell ya was that if ya heard some of the stories of the idiots that turned up there most people i know would have closed the access years ago!.
    Same thing with alot of stuff is a small amount of fuckwits ruin it for the other 99%.

    Yip don't disagree with u there andy, there are are a few wankers out the there that spoil it for the rest alright. I seen it too.
