MOA scopes, probably outnumber mil scopes 10-1 in hunting terms.
And horned and antlered beasts have always been measured in inches. A 1270mm wapiti trophy sounds ridiculous.

@The Hunters Club awesome! Excited for a new season! Question- will you be making Season 6 available for digital purchase? I’ve purchased the first 5 seasons & love being able to chuck em on a device to watch while at camp, particularly great way to pass the time when stuck at camp due to weather.
Season 6 is here - https://vimeo.com/ondemand/huntersclub6
Will make series 7, the current one, available once the first broadcast run is complete, probably in early December
Legend, thanks for that @The Hunters Club. Just purchased and looking forward to watching a few eps at camp next weekend. Not sure how I missed it on the site when I looked before![]()
@The Hunters Club do the guys not help you by sharing the load of camera gear etc?
Tbh I think choosing to carry extra unnecessary items/weight for yourself would be making your own bed. In the case of producing a TV show everyone is involved and it should be a team effort. Bit average imo, maybe Im wired differently. Good to hear you are sending some stuff their way now though.
There's pro's and con's. I'm pretty used to a heavy pack, and when we're moving around, I also don't have the pressure to spot game, select routes, and make decisions that impact the group - I can just plod along following the feet in front. If I saddled someone up with an extra 5kg, it would impact the way they're used to hunting.
Lately I've been dishing out the tripod to any other hunter who isn't carrying a rifle, the sticks weigh around 4kg so it's pretty similar weight to a shooter. This speeds up the process of getting a shot set up as well, as the tripod isn't attached to my pack. Brad (from our Fiordland episode last week) isn't a big guy, but he's as strong as an ox, and so far is the only hunter not to shy away from carrying my big zoom lens for me on hunts, seen here -
For those interested, weighing gear at the hangar before departure on the first part of last nights ep, bodyweight was 95kg, pack was 36kg, then tripod and camera weight was a little shy of 10.
We thank you for all the effort you put in Dave, lugging the gear around for our enjoyment & I'm sure yours as well. Carry on the great work team![]()
Ditto , we all enjoy it and appreciate the extra effort to film that stuff , it looks easy on TV but to try and hunt and capture it on film is next level in difficulty , full credit to you guys
I always feel for Emil...of NZHunter crew.....the episode that really got me and shows how big this fellas dedication is...was the one where Greg finished the hundred summits with fella...epic climbing...and there at the end were a few still photos with young Dane right there!!!!!!
really enjoying your show, keep up the great work...had to laugh seeing the old Bic flick waved past camera .
Any one catch the episode last night? Missed the start but was wondering what location they were in ? Plenty of chamois and a few reds. The country reminded me of the Matukituki
Managed to watch the 2nd half or so but didn't hear a location
Private land, surprised whitetail didn't feature in it.
