WARO - Ruahines - update 21 Dec 2015 - DOC have agreed to rescind the 2015-18 summer openings (to helis) in the Ruahines - WE WIN
Reg Kemper (DOC) rang me to confirm to me that Mike Slater (DOC) had agreed to overturn the openings announced earlier this year and which so many of us have fought to overturn. Thanks to the efforts of those hunters who have written to DOC and ministers and the spending and efforts of the clubs who form the Lower North Island Hunter Liaison Group, DOC have overturned the openings and new concessions are being drawn up. Well done everyone who has played a part and thanks go to our lawyers whose role has been crucial in this victory, expensive but necessary. It does not resolve the Tararua and Rimutaka issues however.
