A big fast bullet beats a little fast bullet every time
Hello Bill999,
We had seen a total of 8 animals. 6 does and a spika plus the stag. The doe's honked and then they would take off crashing through the timber and would prop some 30-50 meters later and check you out before disappearing into the thick timber. I found if you kneeled down straight away when they were alerted of your presence they would honk to let the world know you where there but would hang around for a bit longer trying to find where you had gone. Herd a few more and the sound of them getting away but did not see them at all. Not having hunted Samba before it was interesting just how quick the covered ground in very heavy steep country and left me wondering how the hell do you get a clean shot away. keen to go again as is the young bloke.
Cheers Rob
It's hilarious eh!!
I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.
Is it me or is she a bit high pitched? I have heard a much more deeper belling from both the Manawatu/Horowhenua herd and Victorian sambar
just short and sweet.
I was with friends when we spooked a mob after dark, it sure broke the silence of a still night
I dear say they were a lot more frightened than those two.
