Check on the DoC website as part of that country gets closed up for hunting during summer. A lot of day trippers in the area.

its landlocked and you CANT get to it...many a local has tried. access via creek is crap at best...Ibelieve locharbour has the acess. its steep and crappy with plantation on one side and deer farms around base.I know of local chap who works on one of those farms and is known to person whos land needs to be crossed and even he cant get permission.
I am a local, and I can get to it.
What are you looking for tahr or deer?
acess is ONLY on foot and follows the scotsburn stream WHICH IS PRIVATE LAND. acess permission must be obtained by contacting Ross N Bruce Allen 036963886
direct off DOC pamphlet.
Clearly theres something seriously wrong with you.
you wouldnt be the first person to say so...probably wont be the last.LMFAO
Have had a place at PF for 28 years. Very small number of deer in that block and is bombed up a lot by station workers and locals. i dont bother there any more. Locharbour access used to be easier but thankfully is a bit tighter these days after every tom, dick and fuckwit harry turned up and shot at anything that moved.
There are also some local tour operators who pass through so need to take that into account. I have found that most deer have been pushed inland behind mt peel
Ive talked to Bruce on the phone before to access this block , nice guy. He thanked me for actually asking him to walk across his land, as he said he has seen people walking in without permission.
I accessed to from the Horsfall Road end early one morning. It was pretty bluffy walking up the creek, i struck a steep slippery waterfall and didnt want to go further as it was a bit sketchy.
Yea that waterfall stops most people (including me). There is another way in though. You just have to look :-)
