    Wapiti is the american indian name for elk.
    Youd be surprised who many waps or crossies there are I the cni. Escapees

    Elk are what we call the pure wapiti imports from the states to deer farms. We call the interbred elk/red from fiordland "wapiti". Well, I do, anyway.

    If the photo is as to how it was found, without a lower jaw and no skeleton, I would say it was another one that has been dropped by a prankster chopper crew.
    Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.

    no deepsouth the buzz of the day was me walking along removing a few (20+) traps to another ridge.
    I carry my traps on rock climbing quick draws in sets of 10..Any way.
    Im not sure how long I was walking with a set trap. But when i lifted them up at head hight to get over a log It happend...
    KABOOM got a nipple bite from a victor
    So yea wont forget the day i found it haha
