Great photos mate, you'll get the big fella. Stags wee roaring well "out the back" this morning. We got a ten out in the open in pakihi.

Good stuff. Got the young fella shooting well enough unsupported so we will get out for a look and try and get one for him in the next few days.
Heading south for a fallow on the 10th so he will get a shot then as well hopefully.

In my case it was a bit of both.
I used to like getting as many venison checks as possible, and if it were viable I guess I would still hunt for coin now but with just a bit more hesitation when shooting spikers and stags.

I started hunting with a bloke 10 yrs ago that taught me a lot. He has shot plenty of deer in his time but has 7 stags off public land over the last 10 yrs that go over 300 DS
I used to think he was just jammy until I started to ask questions and tried to soak up as much info off him as possible.
I also hunt with one of my best mates who is a reputable fair chase hunting guide that has also filled my thick skull with his wisdom and ways.

There really does come a time when you have killed enough animals and it is no longer about having to get one to feel successful or satisfied with an outing.
I was told the same thing by an old culler years ago and I thought he was just soft😆
To be honest I would be happy if I could take a half decent photo😆

Completely agree, ive also started seeing a power load more animals when not simply shooting the first animal and setting goals to better prior. Is frustrating thiugh last two trips since february the animals have been plenty but still not a big dong this year!! Maybe next week

A good attitude, there are plenty of deer out there so take a live photo of the stags with potential and a dead photo of the real trophys.
