    South Island Roar 2018

    Hey guys,

Today is my 29th birthday and I've been thinking about something special for my 30th next year. Having had a dud roar this year, I'm thinking of spending a week in the south island chasing roaring stags with a couple of mates.

No time like the present to start planning and researching. Those of you in the know - When, where and how would you go about it?

Thinking about a week max. Happy to tent or stay in huts. Can afford a sky taxi if it will increase chances of success.

    Cheers
    Adam

You will have to start off by applying for the visa mate.

    Well happy birthday to you!!
Perhaps apply for a ballot in south westland in one of the valleys below or around Haast. Great experience hunting westland and great history in the big west coast valleys.
Save our Tahr. They belong in the southern alps.

Struggling to get time at the moment. Might get a day hunt in on Monday if the weather plays the game

Nah. You don't need one for Stewart Island. Just enter via Smugglers Cove

Best bet is to apply for all the ballots, along with us locals & half of Australia

The south islanders wont share the sheep. They actually get a bit defensive over it

Just to pipe in here. I'm sure dorkus will swap good info/ hand holding for a epic summer Spearfishing trip out at great barrier for any keen southerners.

Deer numbers and roaring is just as good in the ruahines actually. You just have to share it with more people.
